FOR SALE – Roland JX-3P
Roland JX-3P - $900
We're happy to have some more affordable synths coming up for sale, including this Roland JX-3P, which is our favorite under-$1000 polysynth.
The JX-3P is one of the most underrated Roland polysynths and analog polysynths in general. Its voices sound very similar to the iconic and popular Juno 60 and 106, and its filters and VCAs are in fact almost the same, but it has the major advantage of having two oscillators (also DCOs) per voice instead of just one like the Junos have! This opens up a lot more possibilities by allowing you to detune, tune in intervals, or crossmod the DCOs. It has a nice chorus which is subtler than the Juno chorus, and also offers options for LFO shapes including sample and hold, while the Junos do not. Finally, it has a really fun and easy to use polyphonic step sequencer. This unit doesn't come with the separate PG-200 editor but editing it is actually not so bad once you get used to it. All in all, really great bang for your buck and for many people, the added synthesis features that put it ahead of the Junos totally make up for the less easy-to-use interface.
