I hate to have to tell you this but your Microwave 1 will always be noisy. Its low sample rate will make it always click because of waveform phases not lining up as it runs through the wavetables, and the DAC will always produce a high hum and a loud chirp when you turn it off. You should still recap the power supply though.
I did a post about this synth only to put this here: Here’s the Waldorf factory preset sound bank which I edited to convert it from a .mid file to .syx (System Exclusive) so you can dump it from MidiOx or SysEx librarian instead of grappling with timing the midi sequence correctly.
waldorf-microwave-factory-sysex.syx
Note: this file is configured for a Waldorf MicroWave 1 with its device number set to 000. You should be able to send it to your MicroWave and have it load without doing anything to prepare your MicroWave to receive, but if it doesn’t work, check your device number (set via Device Param. menu).
Thank you, this sysex is what I was looking for. I’ll try to upload tonite.
Best,
Andre
how do you download this
? when I click on the file name, it takes me to some page with code on it!
SysEx actually IS hex code– what you’re seeing is probably the SysEx code itself. Right click or control-click the file and choose “Save link as”. Then you can open it in MIDIOx or SysEx librarian and send it to your synth.
The file works perfect (MIDI-OX) thank you !
I got a good laugh from your comments on the mw1. It’s an imperfect instrument for sure. Appreciate your insight on the DAC’s loud hum and charming power off chirp. You suggest recapping the power supply, are you referring to the big blue electrolytic capacitor in the top left of this picture:

?
Rob, she means the orange/yellow ones. In fact, there are 3, and one has been replaced on that image by a grey one.
My MW1 (Rev. A) just got a power supply recap and is running great!
