The Digital Keyboards Synergy (aka DK Synergy) a very distinctive digital synth that was beloved by Wendy Carlos in the 80s and generates its distinctive sounds through a type of synthesis based on phase modulation, very unique at the time. It offers distinctive, timbrally deep and effervescent tones, and the ability to layer them and record multitrack sequencers right on board, with a different sound for each track.

While the sounds are not editable via the panel, this unit has been upgraded to the equivalent of a Synergy II+ via an updated retrofit designed by Tauntek, allowing the sounds to be edited through a serial interface and software such as Synergize which can be run on a regular modern computer. This upgrade really opens up a new world of possibilities for exploring an unusual type of synthesis with the Synergy.
